Welcome to Herefordshire

Famous for our Hereford Cattle, which puts Herefordshire on the map all over the world for their tender flavoursome meat, and wonderful cider still using traditional production methods as well as being home to big iconic companies, the county also offers a plethora of artisan products and crafts. From bread to rapeseed oils, honeys and preserves, crisps (Tyrrells originate here) and an abundance of beverages including British Cassis, Westons Cider, Chase Gin & Vodka, food and farming is the lifeblood of the county.

Herefordshire’s incredibly beautiful landscape and countryside is crammed with galleries and studios to visit, a wealth of stunning gardens, country houses and castles. With properties dating to the Doomsday Book, history and traditions are celebrated vigorously by locals and visitors alike and Hereford Cathedral is home to unique world treasures such as the Mappa Mundi and the Chained Library.

There are festivals for everything; food, flying, scarecrows, speed, music, art, and you simply MUST experience a Wassail! Herefordshire is full of hidden treasures waiting for you to explore them and you’ll find them on this website.

  • The River Wye is the 5th longest river in the UK
  • The distinctive Hereford Cattle originated here to become the world’s No1 beef breed and are now reared in over 120 countries.
  • Hereford Cathedral is home to several unique world treasures; The Mappa Mundi (One of the oldest surviving maps of the world circa 1300), the Magna Carta 1217 (considered the foundation of English common law) and The Chained Library (the largest surviving chained library in the world).
  • Bulmers Cider originated here and is still the largest cider-making factory in the world.
