Herefordshire County Map Bromyard

Take a trip to the north east of Herefordshire and you will find Bromyard, a stones throw from the Worcestershire border.

This colourful town beats to tune of its own drum and has become known as ‘The Town of Festivals’ due to the hard work it puts into creating events for both community and the visitor to enjoy. They’re not satisfied with just one or two, in fact it could be said that Bromyard has a festival for everything including Scarecrows, Town Criers, Hops and Folk.

Annual highlights include Nozstock music festival and the Bromyard Gala where you can enjoy steam engines, vintage cars, craft stalls, livestock and many country show activities.

Bromyard has a some wonderful accommodation from hotels, cosy B&Bs, luxury holiday houses including The Freeth and The Hyde on the Netherwood Estate, where you can also visit Pensons new restaurant, the only Michelin Star restaurant in Herefordshire.

You will find plenty to entertain you in and around Bromyard. If you love to walk then get your boots out and explore two areas of outstanding national beauty, Bromyard Downs and Bringsty Common; 500 acres of common land with wonderful views. This is also great horse-riding country and there are several equestrian centres to saddle up at.

Famous for hop production, apples and pears, its hardly surprising that Herefordshire’s award-winning Wye Valley Brewery is located on the road between Bromyard and Hereford and the area is also the home to several micro breweries, cider, Perry and juice producers oh and seek out amazing experiences at Chase Distillery, where you can visit the distillery that turns the humble potato into something far more spirited! If you prefer wine as your tipple why not book a tour at Frome Valley Vineyard, where you can learn about the way the earth and the flow of the land along the Frome River are perfect for growing delicious grapes to make award winning wines.

To take in some local history the Bromyard and Districts Local History Society is on hand to help, formed in 1966 and still active, it has a library, archive and exhibition space which is open three days a week. Explore the nearby traditional villages, or call into Brockhampton Estate, a stunning National Trust property on the doorstep.

The town itself is a flow of small independent shops and businesses and you’ll feel a real Herefordshire community spirit. Not to be held back in winter, Christmas is a time when everyone comes together again to stage the switching on of the Christmas lights; an event lasting throughout the day with children’s activities and shop window competitions leading up to Santa’s sleigh arrival and the countdown to the lights.

When you visit Herefordshire you’ll find the party never stops in Bromyard.
